GravityZone Security for Exchange Servers
Top-rated antispam and antimalware for your mail servers
Security for Exchange protects every active mailbox on your Microsoft Exchange estate - from spam, phishing, malware and the threats that start inside the organisation - and it is managed from the same GravityZone console as your endpoints, with minimal resource consumption on the mail server itself.

Golden SPAM+
Virus Bulletin award
two years running
Every mailbox
Inbound and outbound
user, room, equipment and shared mailboxes alike
Why this product
Three reasons Exchange administrators run it
Mail is still where most attacks arrive. Security for Exchange puts the filtering in front of the mailboxes, on the server you already own.

Antispam that has been measured
Golden SPAM+ award winner two years in a row from Virus Bulletin.
- Multi-layer filtering decides whether a message is spam or a threat vector
- Real-time defence against phishing, powered by the Bitdefender Global Protective Network
- Advanced Pattern Matching and Real Time Data Analysis filters running together

Secure messaging and collaboration
The whole Microsoft Exchange environment, against external and internal threats alike.
- Every active mailbox: user, room, equipment and shared
- Inbound and outbound messages both filtered
- Attachment and content filtering on the mail traffic itself
- Physical and virtual mail servers

Easy to deploy and easy to run
One console, one policy model, nothing new for the team to learn.
- Policies for Exchange mail servers enforced from the console you already use
- The same policy model covers virtual machines, physical endpoints and mobile devices
- Scanning off-loaded to security virtual appliances so the mail server keeps its resources
- Unified reporting across endpoints and messaging
Capabilities and benefits
Advanced security for Microsoft Exchange environments
Layered protection from email-based threats, applied to the message flow and to the server carrying it. Pick a capability to see what it changes day to day.
Layered protection from email-based threats
Anti-spam, anti-phishing, antivirus and antimalware protection in a single pass over the message, with advanced behavioural analysis and zero-day threat detection built in. The layers back each other up: a message that gets past one filter still has to clear the next.
- Anti-spam and anti-phishing
- Multi-layer filtering decides whether a message is spam or a threat vector before it reaches a mailbox.
- Behavioural analysis built in
- Zero-day threat detection is part of the same scan, not a separate product to buy and wire up.
Technology and architecture
The filters that decide what reaches a mailbox
Two antispam engines, and the threat cloud that keeps them current.
Advanced Pattern Matching
A powerful heuristic antispam filter that detects unknown spam. Built on artificial neural networks, APM is trained on large volumes of spam messages inside the Bitdefender Antispam Lab. During training it learns to tell spam from legitimate email, and to recognise new spam by perceiving its similarities - often very subtle - with messages it has already examined.
- Catches spam that has no signature written for it yet
- Highly accurate, which is what keeps false positives to a minimum
Real Time Data Analysis
A filter that queries the Global Protective Network security cloud to identify spam messages and to deploy rapid protection against zero-day and advanced threats. The decision is made against what the network is seeing right now, not against what was downloaded this morning.
- Protection arrives from the cloud rather than on an update schedule
- Zero-day and advanced threats are covered by the same lookup
Global Protective Network
The threat intelligence cloud behind both filters. It is what makes the real-time defence against spam and phishing attempts possible, and it is the same network that powers Bitdefender protection on endpoints, so mail and endpoint decisions are made from one view of the threat landscape.
- Powers the real-time defence against spam and phishing
- Shared with endpoint protection, so there is one source of truth
Both antispam filters ship enabled. Policy controls for them live in the GravityZone Control Center, alongside the endpoint policies.
Bitdefender blocked 99.98% of spam - and did so without a single false positive in either corpus of legitimate emails.

One console
GravityZone Control Center manages mail, endpoints, virtual machines and mobile devices together.
Off-loaded scanning
Security virtual appliances carry the scanning load instead of the mail server.
Both directions
Inbound and outbound Exchange messages go through the same filters.
