Know the difference
Cyber insurance is not a breach warranty
Both pay out after a cyber incident, but they are different instruments and should not be treated as the same thing. A breach warranty is not a replacement for cyber insurance - we recommend carrying both.
01 / 02
Cyber insurance
A standalone policy you buy for the organisation, independent of any product.
- Broad cover across a wide range of cyber risks, whatever technology you run
- Covers first-party damage to you and third-party liability towards others
- Terms and limits are negotiable and tailored to your risk profile
- Carries a premium, which can fall when you evidence security tools and services
02 / 02
Breach warranty
Attached to the service that protects you, and provided with the subscription.
- Covers only what the service itself covers - anything out of scope is excluded
- First-party only, with no cover for third parties affected
- Terms are set by the underwriter and cannot be modified
- Limits are smaller than a policy, and it is a free add-on to the service
